Empowering Young People: Your Journey to the best you!

Are you a young person aged 13-21 struggling with your mental health? You're not alone, and there's support available to help you navigate these challenges and build a happier and mentally healthier life.

1-1 Support

Working with you, the young person, to navigate the ups and downs of life!

Empowering Young People: Your Journey to Happier, Healthier Mental Well-being

Are you a young person, a parent, or work with someone, aged 13-21, struggling with your mental health? Do you feel overwhelmed, anxious, or just not quite yourself? You're not alone, and there's support available to help you navigate these challenges and build a more happier and content way of life.

Welcome to a unique and empowering one-to-one mentoring session, designed specifically for you. Led by myself, an accredited and qualified youth worker with 20 years of dedicated experience, this offer is built on the understanding that we all have mental health, and the key is learning how to manage it, rather than trying to erase or "fix" it.

My Approach: Holistic, Solution-Focused, and Rooted in Youth Work

My therapeutic approach is grounded in three core principles:

  • Youth Work: This means our sessions are dynamic, person-centred, and focused on your unique strengths, experiences, and aspirations. We'll work together to build on what you already have and develop new ways of managing your mental health.
  • Holistic: I believe in looking at the whole you – your thoughts, feelings, relationships, environment, and daily life. We'll explore how different aspects of your life impact your mental well-being and identify practical steps for positive change, using a variety of different approaches and methods to help you get there.
  • Solution-Focused: While we acknowledge challenges, our primary focus will be on identifying and building solutions. We'll work collaboratively to set achievable goals and discover the resources and skills you possess to move forward.

What Makes My Offer Unique?

With two decades of experience, I bring a wealth of practical knowledge and a deep understanding of the unique pressures and experiences faced by young people today. My accreditation as a qualified youth worker means I offer a unique blend of therapeutic support and practical, real-world guidance. My passion is to help young people live their happiest and healthiest lives, even when facing mental health challenges.

What to Expect:

This is up to you and can be agreed upon before hand, but I generally start with offering approximately 8-12 confidential one-to-one sessions, lasting anything between 50 minutes to 2 hours. These sessions can take place in a private, comfortable space in Hitchin, or if preferred and appropriate, we can conduct them within your community, in a cafe, going for a walk, or at a park, offering a more flexible and accessible approach. Our time together will be a safe space for you to explore your feelings, develop coping strategies, and build resilience.

Your Journey, Your Progress: Using the My Mind Outcome Star

To help us track your journey and celebrate your progress, we'll use the My Mind Outcome Star. This valuable tool focuses on seven key elements of your well-being, including:

  • School and/or work
  • Where you live
  • Self-esteem

Throughout our time together, we'll regularly explore these areas, noting both positive shifts and any ongoing challenges. This collaborative approach ensures that our work is always focused on what we can do to help you, both now and for the future. It’s a way to visually see your progress and identify areas where you're growing, giving you a clear picture of your development and empowerment.

Sound like something you'll find helpful? Feel free to reach out to discuss how this one-to-one support can benefit you.

Cost

I work on a sliding scale system and costs can be discussed.  Sadly, i recognise that NHS based mental health services are often difficult to get, with waiting lists extremely low.  I offer a sliding scale, to ensure the appropriate accessibility to all and so as part of the offical referral i may ask for  your, or your parents annual income, but there are several ways in which my services can be funded.

Plesea bear in mind, these costs cover the session, preperation and review work i do for you.

  • Direct payment - Between £35 - £70 per session
  • Local Authority - If you have a Social Worker, or are know to the local authority as a family or child in need, they may be able to fund your time with me.
  • NHS - If you currently on a waiting list, or already engaged with mental health services, or your GP about this work, you may be able to ask them to commission work with me.
  • Right to choose - Did you know that for some services and conditions, you can ask for your GP to refer you to a private service (such as myself) as long as the costs are similar.  CLICK HERE TO READ MORE

I am open to discuss these options with you and/or your parents/guardian further on initial enquiry.
